Second Tuesday: Back on active status

SDBS sponsors a local jam session, open mic & pick-up bands every second Tuesday. Open mic and pick-up bands play from 6:30 to 9:00 pm, and this evening also features a popular informal jamming session. If you want to perform, sign up in advance by sending an email to openmic@sandiegobluegrass.org, or sign up on site, space permitting.
Address: Mainstream Bar and Grill 13385 Poway Road, Poway CA. 92064 6:30-9 pm. Plenty of free parking, good food!

Third Monday Instructed Slow Jam!. Currently online only. Email Mary Jane for the latest.

SDBS sponsors an instructed slow jam on the 3rd Monday of every month. The sessions are held at Our Savior Lutheran Church at the corner of Lincoln and Ohio in North Park (4011 Ohio St, San Diego, CA 92104). The sessions are an hour and a half structured slow jam learning experience from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm led by SDBS Board President Mary Jane Cupp and special guest teachers, with guidance from music teacher Janet Beazley. The fee is $5 per session for SDBS members and $10 for non-members (you can join SDBS on site). For more information on the slow jam (photo below), or to sign up, email Mary Jane.

Fourth Tuesday-Looking for a Venue

The SDBS 4th Tuesday Featured Band Night is looking for a venue.

Once we have a permanent venue we plan to restart the SDBS 4th Tuesday event to be held the fourth Tuesday of every month, SDBS will present a featured band, a top local or regional band in concert for one hour. The schedule for Fourth Tuesday is open mic & pickup bands from 6:30 to 8:00 pm; featured band from 8:00-9:00pm. Sign-up for open mic by email at info@sandiegobluegrass.org. Informal jamming throughout the evening also takes place outside.

OPEN MIC SIGNUP

Sign up here for open mic at the SDBS regular 2nd Tuesday event. Public welcome, but please bring your bluegrass material. These are open mics for acoustic music honoring the bluegrass genre. 10-20 minute slots, or shorter, are available. Sign up in advance by email for priority, or space permitting, sign up on site.

Board of Directors meetings
. Meetings are ongoing but virtual through Zoom during the pandemic. If you would like to participate online, email Board Prez Mark Pullin. Board meetings are held once a month on Sunday afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. If you have an item you would like to bring to the Board, or if you would like to attend a Board meeting, please send an email to SDBS at SDBS info  - visitors are welcome.

SDBS Special Events

SDBS presents a variety of special concerts and events throughout the year, including: Bluegrass Day at the Fair (San Diego County Fair, 2020, 2021, and 2022 were CANCELLED DUE TO COVID, but the event may be back for 2023, We'll update things as they occur.

The Summergrass festival (3rd weekend in August, (August 19-21, 2022); occasional campouts, plus periodic concerts of nationally recognized touring bands. SDBS also co-sponsors or supports many bluegrass-related events, including the Santee Wine & Bluegrass Festival, at the Belly Up, a series of performances at County and City libraries, and the "Bluegrass & Beyond" concerts at the Del Mar Town Hall, sponsored by the Del Mar Foundation.

SDBS Bluegrass in the Libraries Series: SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID, BUT RESTARTING SOON (We Hope!)!SDBS produces a series of Bluegrass in the Libraries concerts. These concerts are free to the public. Upcoming concerts are all at the Del Mar Library at 1309 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA. 92014 and start at 6:30 pm.
